The way to produce an Upolstered Headboard and Footboard to Match

Customizing a headboard and footboard by upholstering them along with exactly the exact substances as you used for your window treatments adds designer flair into your bedroom. With a couple of household tools, you can finish this project over a weekend to totally alter the look of your bedroom. Provided that you are aware of how to hammer in upholstery nailhead trim at a straight line, then you’ll be surprised how great your bed can look.

Measure the height, width and length of the desired headboard and footboard to match the bed and its framework. Add 2 inches to the width on both sides so the headboard and footboard are slightly wider than the bed to look balanced after setup and the addition of bedclothes. Transfer these measurements to the plywood.

Cut the headboard and footboard about the marked measurements from the plywood using your selected saw.

Place the foam above the headboard and cut it to match using the utility or serrated knife. Repeat to your batting.

Glue the foam into your headboard by applying a coat of the spray-on adhesive on the side of the foam that rests against the plywood.

Put the batting above the foam, centering it carefully.

Measure and cut the upholstery cloth so that it folds over the edge of the headboard on all sides by at least 4 inches.

Keep the upholstery fabric in place as you turn over the upholstery. Pull the 4-inch edge of this upholstery fabric and secure it together its edge with the staple gun. Fold over the corner on the wrong side of the headboard so that one advantage neatly overlaps another. Staple in place during its edge. Pull the cloth taut because you staple all around the edge of this upholstery cloth into the plywood under.

Cut a piece of batting and upholstery fabric for the bare aspect of the headboard. Make certain to leave enough of an edge to fold over and to cover the stapled edge of fabric under. After folding the edge under the cloth, hammer the nailhead trim in place in a direct line 1/2 inch apart, pulling the cloth taut as you operate. You can set that nailhead trim 2 to 3 inches from the edge of the headboard, working at a direct line all around the headboard till you match where you started.

Repeat the headboard steps to your footboard. When complete, secure the headboard and footboard to the bed frame.
